About This Workshop

The issues of commons, about how people organize themselves in creating and sharing resources together, have never been more relevant than today. "Open & Free: New Enterprise in the Information Age" brings together experts and stake-holders abroad and at home to disseminate the ideals, practices, and challenges of digital commons in this information age. It is hoped that by sharing our vision and experience about the commons, we will better understand the issues at hand and further participate in the new enterprise. This one-day international workshop consists of one keynote speech, four seminar sessions (Culture/Science/Collaboration/Creativity), and two open discussion sessions. We look forward to your participation and discussion!

About Us

Creative Commons Taiwan (CC Taiwan) — hosted by the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, Taiwan since 2003 — aims at facilitating the (re)creation and exchange of creative works and scientific datasets in Taiwan. CC Taiwan launched the Creative Commons Licenses on September 4, 2004, in Taipei and has since continued to work with government bodies and agencies, civil organizations, collection holders, and individual creators on pragmatic issues of using the Creative Commons Licenses.

Languages

The workshop languages, at the preference of the speakers and participants, are English and Mandarin Chinese. Simultaneous two-way translation will be provided in all sessions.
